17 Injured at Monte Carlo Casino Fire in Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS - Guests and gamblers fled a smoky rooftop fire at the Monte Carlo hotel-casino Friday as flaming embers rained down on the Las Vegas Strip below. An ambulance company spokeswoman said 17 people were taken to area hospitals with minor injuries, mostly from inhaling smoke or from fleeing the building. Orange flames licked at the hotel's sign and plumes of thick black smoke poured from the rooftop of the resort. Tourists and residents watched the high-rise fire nervously, perhaps remembering the deadly fire nearly 30 years earlier at what was then the MGM Grand. Hundreds Evacuate High Rise Fire

CHATEAU WAIKIKI - A residential building in Waikiki had to evacuate close to 400 residents due to a fire on the 15th floor. One person was injured due to smoke inhalation. Dozens Evacuated, 3 Die in Houston Office Building Fire

A fire swept through a high rise office building in Houston. The intense heat was believed to have warped the building's steel beams, making it structurally unsound.  Heavy smoke filled the stairwells making it impossible for anyone to escape. Many workers inside the building said they did not know what was happening because they did not hear any alarms.  Office workers used furniture to break windows to flee the fire which occurred on the 5th and 6th floors.  Safety concerns forced firefighters to delay the search until the afternoon after structural engineers deemed it was safe to enter.  Several workers were sent to the hospital and 3 people were killed.  Part of the building collapsed just after 10 p.m. as the fire continued to burn… Read More and Watch the Video.

 

Indiana University Students Injured by Dorm Fire

INDIANA UNIVERSITY- Witnesses say an unattended candle caught a bed on fire and set an 11th floor room ablaze. Over 400 students had to be evacuated to the student union to spend the night while rescuers and fire crews investigated. Four people were treated for smoke inhalation including one residential assistant. Investigators say the fire started in a room on the 11th floor and spread to a room on the 12th floor........
